LEGASEA Mentorship is the first industry-wide mentoring programme for career focused yachting professionals.
Designed to remove the luck of the draw from career progression and opportunities, members connect with mentees, mentors and Peers shore-side and at sea. Utilising a high-impact, intuitive mentoring software, organic connections are cultivated via the comprehensive online platform. Individuals can be both a mentor and a mentee, creating a circular knowledge economy ensuring every participant gains incredible value while engaging.
This is yachtings platform to collectively invest in ourselves, our future and for those that have been mentored in the past to pass it on the the next generation. Successful people like to share what they have learned with others.

Algorithms match you with mentees
1. Apply to be a mentor and connect with the LEGASEA team to explore if the program is right for you.
2. Once accepted, you will become a LEGASEA Member.
3. On November the 24th, all members will be given access to the online space to create their profiles and explore the platform. Members can dive into the online communities, training courses, events and exclusive offers either on the mobile app or desktop.
4. On December 1st, join the LEGASEA Launch event. Get to know the programme, platform and network with members to get a head start on whom you would like to match with! Matching in the platform will be turned on and you can begin connecting with potential mentee's, peers and even and a mentor for yourself. While smart algorithms will give you a list of suggested individuals that match your profile, you can also search for all members and request them individually.
5. Once you connect with your chosen match, you can begin your journey! Schedule meetings, set SMART goals and achieve milestones with mentor guidance. You will be guided throughout the process by program, prompts, resources, guides and suggestions to ensure you get the most out of your mentoring experience.
As part of your LEGASEA Membership, you will have access to events, workshops, community groups and peer networking. Designed to enhance and maximise your experience, opportunities and network.

Who can be a Mentor?
LEGASEA Mentors come from a every corner and sector of our industry, both ashore and at sea. Many have had mentors them selves and feel drawn to passing this opportunity on to the passionate professionals following in their footsteps.
For many of us, being able to translate our own experiences into support and guidance for the next generation will be one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences of our careers. Mentorship not only helps the mentee, it also impacts you, the Mentor. Many of our Mentors have shared they themselves gained tremendous value from their connections, and even found a renewed sense of purpose in their roles.
Years of experience cannot be faked. Sharing your expertise someone that may not otherwise have has the opportunity to engage with a Mentor and knowing that you have positively impacted someones journey will be your lasting Legasea.

How does the Mentorship Programme work?
LEGASEA Mentorship uses smart matching tools to quickly and accurately match mentors and mentees based on certain criteria, including experience, skills, interests, location and desired outcomes. You also have the ability to build out peer and team - mentoring groups. Once you have created your profile, you will be presented with potential matches. Once matches have been accepted by both interested parties, milestones prompts and in-app task and scheduling to ensure you can focus on your mentor, mentee relationship and not get bogged down with admin.
How much time do I need to be a mentor?
It is widely recognised that a good mentor, mentee relationship will include meeting anywhere from once a week to once a month depending on the relationship and the goals. It is of course going to be a personal choice for both parties and is expected to vary based on each individuals available time. It would be expected to be able to connect through messaging on the app or platform and/or by email in-between meetings should the need or want to arise. It is widely recognised that for a meaningful mentoring connection to be established and nurtured, individuals would be expected to engage in mentoring for at least 6 months.
I feel drawn to mentoring but how will I know what to do once I get connected with a mentee?
Great question and you're not alone! One of the great features of the platform is the support, prompts, templates and training available for mentors & mentees. Throughout the programme, you will be guided with global mentoring best practices so you can focus more on connecting and less on admin and 'doing it right'. Even better is the in-app scheduling, goal tracking, document sharing and more, so you can keep all your mentoring appointments and content in one space!
What happens if I want to end one of my matches?
You can discontinue one of your matches at any time! You may feel like it's not right for you or your mentee relationship may have run its course. Either way, you are free to end the match and engage with others at any time during the program.
Can I sell my products or service to the Mentees?
No, we have a strict non-solicitation policy on the platform. LEGASEA Mentorship is not the place for selling your services/products and falls outside of the mentor and mentee relationship. We may at times provide exclusive offers to our members, that have been approved by us. If you're interested in offering your services/products to our members please get in contact to discuss.
What kind of mentees will I be connecting with?
Mentees are from all sectors, levels of experience and backgrounds. All Mentees are vetted so you can rest assure that your valuable time is invested in a passionate, career focus individual that otherwise may not have had the opportunity.
Will it cost me anything to be a Mentor?
No, mentors are already volunteering their valuable time and experience, as such no financial contribution is required.
Can I be Mentored?
Yes, you can, we encourage you to connect with anyone on the platform that you feel may add value to your landscape. Peer Mentoring can also be hugely beneficial to all those involved.
What if I'm at sea? Will I be able to connect with people?
Absolutely! This year we have introduced the IOS and Android app to ensure EVERYONE has equal opportunity to connect, no matter where in the world you are!
