What is LegaSea Mentoring?
A 6 month online program for passionate, professional female deck and engineering crew.

Mentors can be any gender, and be shore-based or at sea. Each mentor is passionate about supporting professional talent in the industry, with a particular interest in cultivating diversity and inclusion.

'Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be.'
The Legasea mentorship platform will create a space for Yachting professionals to pass on their knowledge and cultivate the next generation of industry leaders, ashore and at sea.
Over the course of three specific intakes, the vision is to create a robust talent pipeline focusing on retention and progression, and flowing that talent from sea to shore.
Our mentors have been carefully selected from all sectors of the industry, each of them bring unique skills and years of experience to ensure our mentees get the most from the program. Here's a small selection of some of the amazing mentors leaving their leagsea.
Every month we are teaming up with yachting professionals from all sectors to deliver high impact workshops to engage our mentors and mentees.
How much time do I need to be a Mentor?
It is widely recognised that a good mentor, mentee relationship will include meeting anywhere from once a week to once a month depending on the relationship and the goals. It is of course going to be a personal choice for both parties and is expected to vary based on each individuals available time during the 6 month period. It would be expected to be able to connect thorough messaging on the Mentorloop platform and/or by email in-between meetings should the need or want arise.
What kind of mentees will I be connecting with?
For the initial 6 month program, beginning on November 30th 2020, the mentees will be females working at sea in the deck and engineering department. Mentors will be of all genders, from at sea and ashore, with a particular interest in fostering future talent, diversity and inclusion, and a competency focused industry.
The second intake will bring in female talent ashore, and the end goal is for the platform to be able to host all yachting talent, ashore and at sea, of all genders.
Mentees are vetted so you can rest ashore that your valuable time is invested in a passionate, career focus individual that otherwise may not have had the opportunity.
Can I be mentored?
Indeed you can, and we encourage you to connect with anyone on the platform that you feel may add value to your landscape!
What happens if I want to end one of my matches?
No worries, this is natural and does happen. Sometimes the relationships can run their course sooner than others. You are free to end a 'loop' at any time, and of course can look to connect with other mentors during the program.
I have a service or/or product to sell, can I do this here?
No, although we do provide access and information about products and services we recommend, LegaSea is not the place for self promotion, sales of goods and services or anything that falls outside the realm of mentoring.
Will it cost me anything to be a Mentor?
No, mentors are already volunteering their valuable time and experience, as such, no financial contribution is required. Mentees each make a contribution of 40 euros per month towards the running of the platform.
Are there any other LegaSea features that I might be interested in?
Absolutely! In addition to access to the Mentorloop platform, all mentees and mentors are given access to many high impact features designed to enhance the mentoring relationship.
